Painting Projects to Brighten up Blustery Days!

Posted · Add Comment

If this winter is anything like last winter, the snow should begin in earnest anytime now; meaning it’s time to batten down the hatches and stay warm inside, catching up on your favorite novels or marathoning your favorite shows.

Bundling up inside doesn’t have to be a chore, and there’s fun ways to beat cabin fever after all the cheerful holiday decorations have been packed up. Why not start one or two of those painting projects you’ve been waiting on? A fresh coat of paint will make these blustery days much more appealing. Don’t be daunted by the myriad of colors to choose from- bring home lots of swatches and enjoy all the color! Can’t choose just one color? You don’t have to! Choose a neutral tone for the walls and stencil a pattern or image in one or more colors! Oversized florals in bright colors, Greek-key in a contrasting color, or abstract tone on tone are some of In-Home’s favorites.

Did you inherit a piece of furniture from family over the holidays? Sometimes heirlooms and handed-down pieces don’t quite fit the decorating bill in your space. Not to worry! Make it your own, and customize it with a little paint, wax or stain. Try your hand at a little art project during the impending blizzards- try some simple reupholstering! Fresh paint, new hardware, bold or neutral fabric and a little bling update any piece and make it personal.

Case in point- this perfect teal hutch! One of our clients refreshed this piece with our Maison Blanche Furniture paint. It was so blah, so drab, before. But this bright teal paint, new hardware and coastal decor makes it a perfect personal piece for her Cape Cod space! We love seeing the creative art projects our clients come up with, and seeing the pieces you finish. If you’re looking for inspiration or help, In-Home is your go-to destination!
